How does neuro-physiotherapy help me?
The natural response to neurological disorder is to do less – it hurts, it is frightening, we feel out of control and frustrated. Neuro-physiotherapy will:
- help identify and stimulate the neural pathways that affect movement
- help you understand how your disorder has affected your body.
- allow you to feel more confident
- assist you in achieving the changes necessary to improve.
The key to rehabilitation is not to stop moving but to keep moving in a safe environment, to rebuild ability and confidence.
Many conditions can recover and improve over long time periods. Even where full recovery is not achievable, I can suggest ways to:
- mobilise your body
- work with your condition
- reduce discomfort
- improve your quality of life.
I can also offer professional advice and support for you in:
- attending wheelchair clinics
- identifying the need for, and obtaining, specialist aids eg orthotics
- liaising with other professionals
- involving family and care workers in your rehabilitation
- providing written reports for courts, doctors, social services, private health providers
What benefits will I receive?
- improvements in key physical tasks - sitting, standing, walking and so on
- maintainance of peak performance – more resilience to relapses and secondary complications
- therapy will relax you - you feel more in control, less frustrated and stressed
- the combination of movement, relaxation and confidence often reduces pain and improves your quality of life.
