Therapy for children: I specialise in the treatment of children and young adults and, in this section, I expand on some of the unique aspects of therapy for children. Please read this in conjunction with the General guidance notes to gain a more rounded view of my overall approach to personalised therapy. Children’s special needs A child with a neurological disorder may not be able to articulate their problem as well as an adult. He or she may be completely unaware of the ‘problem’ as it is normal to them. As a parent, you may be unfamiliar with their condition or symptoms, worried your child does not seem to be developing ‘normally’ and unsure how best to proceed. Symptoms that may indicate a neurological disorder in a child include:
Neuro-physiotherapy for children Children with neurological disorders are often perceived as ‘slow developers’ until the condition is recognised. Sadly, as a result of this, children often come to me with a negative perception of their own abilities. In my experience, children benefit from physiotherapy as much or more than adults.
